In plain words
Every man needs love of God.
From ancient times the culture of Bhārata, with its depths past fathoming, has spread and taught throughout the world the unity that holds the many, and has lived a life divine, splendid and ever new. Man today makes many kinds of effort to enjoy happiness and Śānti. For man, who strains after gains that cannot be had, with ceaseless toil, with endless anxious striving, with desires that know no end and thoughts that make no sense, the fine lights that show the way are the lamps of the spirit.
Remembering the Name of God is the filter that purifies the polluted atmosphere
Embodiments of Prema! We must, as a matter of the greatest need, experience the spiritual principle. Our Śānti and happiness, and our safety too, lie held within the spiritual alone. We must remember the Name of God. We must purify this impure atmosphere that surrounds us. Today in the world sound, touch, form, taste and smell have all become impure. They have become an impurity of the polluting kind. To purify this atmosphere, the sacred filter is remembering the Name alone! Through that remembrance of the Name of God, the unity that holds the many enters the atmosphere and makes it sacred. So you must sing the Name through the streets. If, as soon as you rise at daybreak, you remember the sacred Name of God in the pure atmosphere, in the cool breeze, experiencing its gentle nature, the atmosphere becomes pure. There is no sādhana greater than this.
