In plain words
Culture is not merely a religion. It is not a tradition. It is not merely civilisation. It has nothing to do with dress and language. It is the stream of a nation's life, flowing from time without beginning, endless and eternal. What makes us recognise the unity in the many: that is the culture of Bhārata. Conduct joined with morality and integrity: that is the culture of Bhārata. What gives us discernment and makes us live with honour and dignity: that is the culture of Bhārata. What brings us near to the holiness that is divinity: that is culture. What refines us: that is culture. Today the people of Bhārata have forgotten such a divine, splendid, ever-new culture of Bhārata, and put their faith only in Prakṛti, which is impermanent, transient and untrue.
The feeling of the one Ātma in all is higher than the brotherhood of all mankind
For the people of Bhārata, everything in the world is worthy of worship! From stone to gem, from grass to the pārijāta flower, from ant to lion, the tree, the anthill, the hillock, even the earth: the culture of Bhārata worships them all. But fools who cannot recognise the inner meaning of this mock the people of Bhārata as mere superstitious fools. Others do not try in the least to go deep and come to know this Satya. This kind of culture was laid down to spread the divine Prema of Paramātma, not confined to human beings alone, to the whole world of the moving and the unmoving. ‘All this is indeed Brahman’, ‘All this is to be clothed by the Lord’, ‘The Lord of all beings’: all these sacred sayings are thoughts that make us recognise the divinity and holiness in every living being! The culture of Bhārata has always proclaimed that the Lord is present in all beings and that the whole of Prakṛti is the form of Paramātma. It is this culture that could turn the oneness of all beings into divinity, without letting it become division.
