In plain words
You must not carry pride, saying, “I have mastered my studies”: that learning you have, what is it worth? Humility alone is the true form of learning; what remains to be learnt is so very much: thinking so, give up pride and wicked ego; keep turning this over in your heart, O good soul! O lord of ignorance!
Embodiments of Prema!
Today only the wise are trying to recognise that the problems that plunge every thinking man into confusion are growing apace in the field of education. The students, who must give the citizens of the nation the strength and ability to shape every field of life into something strong and fruitful, are today forgetting their own true nature. Good students, those with a pure heart, need not be taught Jñāna. For such people, even teaching it is very easy. To teach Jñāna to a fool with no knowledge at all is extremely easy. But to tell those who stand in the middle, neither fully wise on the one side nor fully ignorant on the other, is beyond anyone.
Those who sleep, lost to the body, anyone can wake; but the great one who shuts his eyes and feigns sleep, who can rouse him! Why this trickery? Enough now of these games!
One who sleeps, lost to himself, can easily be woken. Even one who is awake and acts as though asleep can be woken, with some trouble. But no one can wake the one who puts on an act, making out that he is in deep sleep.
