In plain words
So they said. As wealth grows, man's virtue dwindles. As this virtue dwindles, Ahaṅkāra grows. As Ahaṅkāra grows, Viveka and Jñāna wither. Vijñāna and discernment are coming to nothing. He makes discrimination to suit his own convenience; he does not try for discrimination in Satya. He is afraid to recognise the Satya within himself. What is the reason? There is no Satya in him. ‘Satyaṃkīrtidvayaṃ sthiram.’ These two alone are what matter; so, Embodiments of Prema! Human life is very hard to gain. It is very precious. It is worth living. We are wasting such a precious life. We take the body to be the main thing.
This body is a worthless iron box; as jewels are placed in a box, so in the body dwells God, the Ātma; mark this: the path of Satya is the word of Sai.
The body is a useless, worthless box. But in it are all the qualities of the Ātma, the virtues and good conduct. For that, we must nourish this body. Today man forgets those qualities and just hangs on, clutching the iron box. This body is like a bubble on water. We must not put our trust in such a thing. We must take the virtues as our ideal. Only a life that has gained Prema for God is a life; a life that has lost it is no life at all. Even Jaṭāyu, a bird, attained Prema for God. An old woman with no learning at all attained Prema for God. But man today, having become learned in everything and a man of science, does not strive for Prema for God in the least.
