In plain words
What use is it to give value to money without value for man?
Births change, yet karmas do not change
Here is a small example of this. I shall tell a Shirdi story. It was summer. Beside the village of Shirdi the Godāvarī flows as a canal. On the bank of that river Bābā was walking along in the evening. This Śyām came along with Bābā. After going some distance, the two sat down on the bank of the canal. There a frog kept crying out loudly. Śyām spoke up. ‘Bābā! This frog is in great danger,’ he said. Bābā said, ‘I know it! A big black cobra has caught it. That one cannot swallow it, and this one cannot escape. That is why all this commotion is going on.’ The frog had no strength to escape. The snake had no strength to swallow the frog. So both were in pain! That is why the frog was crying out loudly. ‘Ayyo, set it free, Swami!’ said Śyāmā. ‘Ah! I'll get up,’ He said, and Bābā got up, went near it and set about scolding it! ‘That is a black cobra, very dangerous. Don't go near it,’ said Śyāmā. And: ‘Don't hit it with a stick! It is very dangerous,’ he said. Then Bābā: ‘Śyāmā! I know,’ He said, and went near, and then: ‘Hey! Vīrabhadrappā! Even after taking so many births, your wickedness has still not gone! Arē! Cennabasappā! Though your births have changed so many times, this jealousy of yours too has not lessened. Have you no shame even now, after taking so many births! Go!’ The moment He said it, the snake let go of the frog and went into the bushes. The frog went off on its own. Then Śyāmā to Bābā: ‘What is this? Who are this Vīrabhadrappa and Cennabasappa? The moment You spoke they went away at once!’ he asked. In answer Bābā: ‘There is a long history to this, Śyāmā! Long ago there was a Śiva temple in the village of Mathurā. In this Mathurā Kṛṣṇa's influence was strong. Everyone installed only images of Kṛṣṇa.
