In plain words
The attraction is only to what is far away. Even though they are near Swami twenty-four hours a day, many do not know Swami's worth so very well. Only when you go a little way off do you know its worth better. There is a lighthouse. Its light is only for those who are far away; for those beneath it there is just the shadow at its foot! In the very same way, there are so many among our people of Bhārata who have śraddhā and devotion. Among foreigners too there is no lack of good people. Though there are people of such ability and skill in Bhārata, very few give them the encouragement and support they deserve. That is why many doctors, nurses, compounders and others like them in our Bhārata are going away to other countries. What is the reason? They are not given fitting opportunities here. Moreover, they are not given fitting jobs. They are not offered opportunities fit for their standing. They turn the senior into a junior and the junior into a senior. Because of difficulties like these, many people are leaving Bhārata. But My view is this: why should people of ability and skill be sent away from Bhārata? It is very good that we ourselves keep them here and have this work done by them alone.
The welfare of the country is our welfare
There are many great doctors in our hospital. Though in build he looks very small, no one rightly understands the ability and skill of our Venugopal. There is another doctor called Baladas. He is small. He works night and day, poor man! For him there is no difference at all between night and day. They take their meal at five in the evening. Even that pains My heart! Only if the doctors are well can we get the work done well through them! They said, ‘Health & wealth.’ Only when they are well can we have any amount of work done through them.
