In plain words

Unless we cut these down, this problem will not be solved. If it goes on this way for a few more days, there will not even be good water to drink on the earth. On one side, the ozone layer is being ruined by the pollution this smoke creates. On the other, all the countries of the world are running a race to develop industries still further. The one simply works against the other. So guard what you have! Today all the progress of science is going along a narrow path. No one has a broad heart. Only when we grow a broad outlook, ‘Lokāḥ samastā sukhino bhavantu’, will all be happy.

Man must not misuse the powers of Prakṛti

What is Navarātri? It is the way of praying to Prakṛti, gathering all the powers of Prakṛti together, and fostering and nourishing them! Man must not misuse the powers of Prakṛti. What are these powers of Prakṛti? There is current (light). Today we are misusing this light. By this we do the country great harm. We must use this current only as far as we need it. Today, using current as we please, we waste a great deal of energy. In the same way, use water only as much as you need! By wasting water beyond all measure, we become people who have wasted two of the five elements. For example, you have eaten and must wash your hand! Take water in a glass and wash your hand! Instead, you turn the tap and let the water come gushing out! For work that a glass of water would finish, they spend a whole potful. In this way it amounts to our wasting Gaṅgā. Air is needed by every man! But if the wind blows beyond measure, a man cannot stand. Today we are polluting even the air.
