Passage 13

In plain words

On TV it is all seen. When one sound is broadcast at one time, it is heard everywhere. The person speaking is seen. When one person is seen in so many places, how is it that you believe this? If there is such wonder in the power of machines alone, why should there not be in the power of mantra? So these forms and names are everywhere. Not only this: even when a body perishes, those sounds remain just as they were. Ghaṇṭasāla was one who sang very sweetly. It is fifteen years now since he died. But that voice is still heard on the radio. Where has it come from? It has entered the electric waves. Whether the scientist agrees or not, everything is filled with electric energy. When the power of machines itself is like this, why should one not believe that Kṛṣṇa, in those days, gave darśan in everyone's house too? When Swami went to Hyderabad the other day, letters came about that programme from Madras, letters came from Bombay, letters came from Delhi. ‘Swami! We saw it on TV,’ they say. Yet if I was in Hyderabad, how did they see it on TV in Delhi? How did they see it in Madras? How did they see it in Bombay? What is the reason for this? This is merely one kind of power of machines. Greater than this is the power of mantra. Kṛṣṇa, who is in Mathurā, can be seen in Repalle. He can be seen anywhere. But they must set up there the radio called the divine feeling. They must tune to the correct station. That is concentration; your heart is the radio. When that happens, sākṣātkāra is gained anywhere.
