In plain words
It comes in the middle and goes in the middle. You think, ‘My son.’ Was this son born along with you? No, he came in the middle. So he goes in the middle. Wife and husband: did these two come as wife and husband the moment they were born together? This bond came about after some time. So all these came in the middle! Did we bring money with us when we were born? No. When we were born, we came with empty hands. When the time comes to go, we go with empty hands. This came in the middle. So it goes in the middle. All these are only passing clouds. The right name for this moha, which is like passing clouds, is attachment; to call it Prema is not right. Before you were born, God was there. In your life too, God is there. After you die, too, God will be there. Divinity is that which neither comes nor goes. Prema for That is true Prema. All that joins in between is only a change in sound! People give a girl to a boy in marriage. This they called ‘marriage’. The jīvātma joins the Paramātma. This they called ‘merge’. ‘That is marriage; this is merge.’ There is a difference of pronunciation, but it is one and the same! We say, ‘The mind does not become lagna in God.’ What does this lagna mean? Just this: joining! People say, ‘We are having the lagna-patrikā printed.’ What is a lagna-patrikā? We have the lagna-patrikā printed to give a girl to a boy in marriage. What carries the union of jīvātma and Paramātma they called ‘merge’. So, doing many kinds of sādhana on the path of Prakṛti, and giving it the names ‘Durgā, Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī’, people have gone on worshipping Prakṛti all these ten days. When did this begin?
Saṅkalpa and sādhana are like smoke and fire
In the Dvāpara Yuga, when the Pāṇḍavas had finished their twelve years of life in the forest and were to live in hiding in the thirteenth year, the question arose where they should hide their weapons before going, and Kṛṣṇa gave them a fine plan for it. ‘Hide them in the śamī tree and go,’ He said. This tree has a certain power and strength. It is thick.
