Passage 6

In plain words

You are a Coordinator, only in name, but you are a servant! If the master does wrong, all the servants will do wrong. If he sits back, thinking ‘I am the master’, no one will follow him any more. So, first of all, the Coordinator must bend his back and do good work. Then comes the right to tell another. Without doing it yourself, you have no right to tell another. When you have no right, they will not respect you. To your face they may just say, ‘Namaste! Namaste! Sai Ram! Sai Ram!’ But in their hearts they will not give you true respect.

Whatever we do, we must do it as God's work!

If we are to receive true respect, we must do what we say and show it. First be, next do, third tell. But if, without be and do, you try to tell, it will bring you no respect. In the Sathya Sai Organisations everyone is working, bless them. But to them, in this spiritual work, ‘What? How must we do it?’: what is to be done and the way of doing it stay unknown. All are good; but there is no chance to learn. All are eager to serve. But where is the chance to come from that matches that eagerness? Happiness is union with GOD. We must work in union with God. There is no place at all where God is not. So whatever we do, we must do it as God's own work. 'He is doing through this body. He is doing through this mind. He is doing through these hands.' If we act with this feeling, there is no room at all for Ahaṅkāra. The body is negative, mind is a bundle of desires. To think like this is just an imagination. You are not the body, you are the Atma. Think like this. I am Atma, I am Atma. Then you can do any amount of work. You must not think, ‘I am serving someone else.’ You must think, ‘Whatever I do, I do it for myself alone.’ Because you are not the body, you are not the mind; you are Atma. You are everywhere. You must keep in mind the awareness that the Ātma is one. Say ‘Rāma! Kṛṣṇa! Allah! Jesus!’, whatever you like: these are names.
