Passage 7

In plain words

But all are one! You must recognise that though forms and names differ, divinity is one and the same. With this feeling we must enter into service. We must not lord it over others. By teaching with Prema, you can bring everyone onto the right path. When you go at it with authority, difference begins there. Now and then the way of speaking changes. But the heart does not change. Love to love, heart to heart. Every now and then I too do this and show it. To the students I say gently, ‘Dear ones! You must not do it that way, you must not do it this way.’ At times the children do not listen. ‘Hey, you must not do that,’ I say sternly. Because I speak that way, they change. But in My mind there is no change. You must use the same way. Now and then change the way you speak. For what? For the work! If we keep the work as our goal and go on serving, Śānti will come to this world.

Service alone is the holiest and highest sādhana of all!

Embodiments of Prema! All this service is a sādhana! You think doing dhyāna and doing japa is sādhana. But the highest and holiest of all is service alone! We sit in dhyāna; do we do it with one-pointedness for even a single moment? We do japa; do we do it with one-pointedness for even a single moment? The japa beads go round, but this is only one part of daily life! Instead of wasting time like that, go out into society and serve! In that service, think, ‘I am serving God Himself!’ In service, first of all we must root out Ahaṅkāra. All must live together as brothers. What is the great wealth I have? The wealth of Prema alone! That is the true riches. Worldly wealth may come today and go tomorrow. But the wealth of Prema, for its part, comes and grows. It never goes. We must recognise this Satya. Today, in service to society, we must root out selfishness, foster the good of others and build oneness.
