In plain words
One person can never set the world right. Only when many come together can the world be given a right order. An example. Can each finger of the hand do a task each by itself? It cannot. When these five fingers come together, any task can be done. A single finger cannot lift this handkerchief. But five fingers together can lift it. Its worth lies only in all coming together. So in the Sai Organisations, the bhajan group, the Seva Dal, the women's wing, the study circle and Bal Vikas: only when these five come together does it become one. When each one does his own duty, all become one. ‘I am doing the service. He is giving the orders. His post is big, my post is small’: do not hold such a feeling. For your place, your post is big. A small example. There are rockets. Many kinds of parts have gone into them. People have taken a rocket to be some great big machine. But in that rocket, nuts, bolts, springs, wires, all are there, each at its own level. You cannot say, ‘In so big a machine, what if one bolt comes loose?’ You must not say, ‘What harm if one small pin is missing?’ Even that small pin is very much needed! For want of that pin, the rocket falls down and is burnt to ashes. In the same way, in the organisation, everyone is just as strong as any other! We must not hold to the distinction, ‘This one is big, this one is small.’ In this machine called the organisation, each must carry out the duty that is his. One may be a screw, one a nut, one a pin. One may be a bolt. But all are needed for this machine! Only when we are united in this way can any amount of work be done.

This is a handkerchief. It is very hard to tear it. What is the reason? Many threads have become one. Because they have become one in this way, it is strong. But if you take out each thread, you can snap it with your fingers. When they are apart, one by one, you can snap them easily.
