Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

When all are together, it is very strong. In the same way, if each person, each person, is separate, this organisation will have no strength at all. Only when all become one does real strength come. Unity itself is great strength. Unity itself is the root of progress. This very unity is the prosperity of the nation. The prosperity of the nation does not drop from the sky. Nor does it spring up from the earth. So all must live in unity. You have great Prema for Swami. But you must act in keeping with that Prema. ‘I love Swami,’ you say; but you are not following Swami's instructions. What is the use? Since you love Swami, you must practise Swami's instructions. Some of you may know the Bhagavad Gītā, some may not. Arjuna was very intelligent. His intelligence was of the highest. He argued with Kṛṣṇa. In the Gītā he argued for two chapters. Kṛṣṇa sat listening. At last he grew tired. Arjuna's stock had run out. ‘Well, Arjuna! Have your words run out? May I speak now?’ he asked. ‘Yes, Swami! All this was only a waste of time,’ Arjuna admitted. Then Kṛṣṇa: ‘All your arguments have to do with knowledge. Your knowledge is not balanced. Only when it is balanced does humanness grow. You do not skill this knowledge; you kill it. So, first of all, skill your knowledge. Life will stand in balance,’ he taught. Today all of life rests on balance. When there is no balance, knowledge is destroyed. So, first of all, we must skill knowledge. What does skill mean? To set it on the sacred path.
