Passage 2

In plain words

For the earthquakes that happen in the world today, for volcanoes bursting open, for the miseries of flood and drought, for wars, the upheavals of nature themselves are the cause. And the root cause of these upheavals of nature is man's own conduct! Man is unable to recognise the close bond and kinship that there is between man and the world.

One who hopes for the fruit without doing his karma can be called nothing but a fool

First of all we must recognise what kind of relationship there is between Prakṛti and man. Eyes, ears, mouth, legs, hands: all such limbs are in this body. All these limbs belong to the body itself! Man's body is made up of limbs. As vital as the limbs are to a man, so vital a support is man to society. Man is indeed a limb of society! Man is a limb of humanness. Humanness is a limb of Prakṛti. Prakṛti is a limb of Paramātma. Man is unable to understand this close relationship. Today people are forgetting humanness. They are forgetting these human values. They are unable to recognise the excellence that lies in humanness. If man truly goes deep and enquires, man has no right and no entitlement of any kind in this world. His duty alone is his right; apart from it he has no right of his own whatever. To clamour for entitlements without fulfilling one's duty is madness. The root cause of the upheavals of nature that happen in the world today is man's forgetting his own duty! When each one fulfils his own duty well, the world stays prosperous. Only when the master's duty is fulfilled well does the worth of the workers grow. Only when parents fulfil their duty well does the welfare of their children increase. Only when children fulfil their duty rightly does the greatness of their parents spread.
