In plain words
What we want is Hari, not Siri. If Hari is there, Siri comes right along behind us. God alone is the root cause of everything. We must keep remembering such divinity, the very ground of all.
If the heart is good, any yuga is good
In this worldly age, this year has received the name Yuva. Yuva: one who is in the middle years of life is called yuva. Those in their youth are called yuva. It is only something that comes and goes in between. Youth is not there from the beginning. It does not last till the end. It comes and goes. This is the year named Yuva. But people have misgivings and anxieties about what results the Yuva year will bring. It is not good for many people to tell of many fears, frighten man still more and dishearten them. By astrology, the Yuva year began under Śani. But Guru is benign. He is the king. When the king is good, it does not matter what the ministers are like. The king controls them all. Guru is the king. There is no need to fear anything. Still, in the world pleasures, sorrows, hardships and losses will keep happening. Were there no troubles even in the Kṛta age! Did hardships not happen in the Tretā age! Was there no war in the Dvāpara age! No, no. The yuga need not be looked at as something apart. Even in the Kṛta age there were men of the Kali age. Even in the Kali age there will be men of the Kṛta age. The yugas are not the root cause of this. The heart is the root cause. If our heart is good, what does it matter to us which yuga it is? We must make the effort and achieve the way that purifies the heart. This is what was called hṛt…dayā. We need a heart filled with compassion. There should be no hard heart. So we must strive to get rid of this hard heart and grow a heart of compassion.
Each one must walk on his own to reach the goal
But this year we must keep in mind both the good and the bad. There will be very many accidents. There will be much turmoil. The political troubles are beyond telling. So each one must grow a pure heart and strive to protect himself. The guru cannot take you to the goal. God cannot take you to the goal. The scriptures cannot take you to the goal. To reach the goal you must walk on your own. There is a guide post. Its nature is only to show "this is the road to this village"; leading the way is not its part. In this, each one must try by his own strength to gain happiness and joy. We must see to protecting our own selves. Each one must have good character. However many troubles come, we can face them with ease. We must make an effort fit for God's grace. We must offer prayers to God. The young must stay on their guard this year. We must keep the mind under control. We must not let anger flare up in a moment, or envy in a moment. Anger that comes in a moment and goes in a moment is very dangerous. We must try to kill anger as far as possible. Envy is a disease even harder to cure. There is a cure for the disease of cancer, but there is no cure for envy. We must not fall prey to envy in the least. Envy brings us troubles of many kinds.
To those who believe, God… to those who do not believe, Yama
Who is God? Where is the embodiment of Dharma? Who is Yama? If we enquire well, "Who is Rāma?", Purandaradāsa said: ‘To Rāvaṇa, who did not believe, Rāma was Yama; to Vibhīṣaṇa, who believed, Rāma was God himself. To Kaṃsa, who did not believe, Kṛṣṇa himself became Yama. To Akrūra, who believed, He became God. To Prahlāda, who believed, He appeared as Nārāyaṇa. To Hiraṇyakaśipu, who did not believe, He appeared as Yama. Yama and Rāma are not two different beings. God and Yama are not two different beings. There is no Yama apart, and no God apart. He turns into Yama only through the faults in their own feelings. He turns into God through the goodness of their feelings.
To those who say ‘yes’, He says ‘yes’, to those who say ‘no’, He says ‘no’; the ‘no’ and the ‘yes’ belong to your mouths; for Sāī everything is ‘yes, yes, yes’.
The faults in our own hearts are the yes and no; God has no yes and no. Whatever the yuga may be, whatever the year that begins, we must grow compassion within our hearts. We must foster the thought of God. If the thought of God alone is there, anything can be achieved.
