In plain words
This is the purity of our five senses. Though man today learns so many kinds of learning, bad qualities do not leave him. We must put away bad qualities. On the day we put away bad qualities, on that day good qualities begin. We must not forget that we are human beings. Humanness is very sacred. We must not waste such sacred, dear, precious humanness. We must develop human values. We must develop sacred qualities such as compassion, Prema, patience and sympathy. We must keep putting away the bad qualities that arise in us. Now and then I tell our children this. At this age a great many monkey thoughts grow. A kind of confusion also comes. Many narrow feelings grow. Then sit in a chair and think ten times, 'I am not monkey, I am man;'. Those thoughts will go away. If you stay like that for ten minutes, there is no room for monkey thoughts. You stay ready for Self punishment. No one else should have to tell you. You must not give anyone such a chance. One who has to be told by someone else becomes a slave, not a Master. You must become the Master. Anger comes, agitation comes. At such a time, too, sit down in one place and remember, I am not dog, I am man; these bad qualities will surely go. By such an easy path you can progress a great deal. You can attain any high position. There is no need to perform great yajñas, yāgas and tapas. In a small thing itself you can achieve a great result. You will have seen this. The elephant is very strong. If it strikes with its trunk, a man falls ninety feet away. But show it the goad, and the elephant stays meek and subdued. Its strength is of no use at all.
