Passage 14

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

When that unity was broken, the household was utterly ruined. The whole family was shattered to pieces. People in the family strut about, wanting first and foremost to gain their independence. Independence is not what matters. Unity is what is needed. We must achieve unity. God alone is the root cause of this unity. Only when we hold the feeling of God do all become one. Look, people of how many countries are in this hall, of how many outlooks, of how many kinds of thinking? Yet all have become one through the one feeling for Svāmī. If we develop just the one feeling of God, everything becomes one. Because that feeling of God is lacking, each goes his own separate way.

Only when you develop the principle of Prema can you grasp the meaning of the holy days

Embodiments of Prema! You are all embodiments of God, you are all embodiments of Prema, you are all embodiments of Śānti! You are all embodiments of God who have taken human form. That is why: ‘God in human form.’ Develop that feeling. Immerse your life in the Prema of God. Do not use this Prema for anything else. Offer all the Prema that has arisen in you to God. Only when you develop the principle of Prema can you understand the meaning of these holy festival days. There is desire for wealth. There is desire for houses. There is desire for wife and children. That has to be; I am not saying it should not be. But does that mean there need be no Prema for God? If someone hates your father, how angry you get! If someone has abused your younger brother, how it hurts you! In the same way, when someone abuses the God you worship, how can you bear it in patience? Are you a demon or a man? Why do you not stand up to it? You must hold to it in this way: ‘This is my God, this is my feeling.’ Today you must offer all your Prema to God alone.
