Passage 17

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Brotherhood of man and fatherhood of God. Only when we foster such sacred feelings do we truly become educated. Help is very necessary. We must understand well the divinity in our fellow man. ‘Īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ’, they said. The consciousness that is in all is in you. We must respect every human being. We must serve them. We must foster close bonds of kinship. This is true humanness. Otherwise, like a drop of oil on water, the water apart and the oil apart, we must not stay separate. We must become one. We must not keep such petty feelings. For the man of today, if a desire is fulfilled, great joy. If it fails, hatred. There are some who hate even God. But those who hate God are of three kinds. Who are they? One is the person who has no faith in the very word God. Another is the person who hates when the desires of his heart fail. The third is the person of personal hatred. Apart from these three kinds, no one else hates God. One must love all. One must win God by Prema alone. God is not caught by us through hatred. Through envy and Ahaṅkāra He is caught still less. Prema, Prema, Prema. It is with this Prema that we must live in the world.
