In plain words
That is truth, that is wisdom. This comes only through Prema. With Prema, general knowledge comes into the heart. What is the use of having general knowledge? Commonsense must become one with this General knowledge. Only when those two join does Practical knowledge come forth there.
Students! Science has made great progress in America, in Russia, in Germany. You should not think it is not in our Bhārata. It went to all these countries from Bhārata itself. The Atharvaṇa Veda itself, which came from Bhārata, gives knowledge to every country. All the learning of every kind of weapon is in the Atharvaṇa Veda. All that concerns health is in the Atharvaṇa Veda. The sage Bhāradvāja discovered this very thing. In arithmetic they say 3-1=2. This is the worldly answer. For the world it is right. But in the spiritual they say 3-1=1. How is that? The world will not agree! The world need not agree; I agree. To me that is the truth. How is it the truth? A small example. There is a mirror. You go and stand in front of the mirror. You, the mirror and the reflection: there are three. Take the mirror away. The reflection too goes. When you look at first, you, the mirror and the reflection: there are three. Of these three, if you take away one, the mirror, you alone remain. Along with the mirror the reflection too goes. That is: God, you. The jīva, the reflection. Prakṛti, the mirror. In the mirror called Prakṛti the reflection called the jīva is seen. Forget Prakṛti. You alone become God. The jīva is there only as long as Prakṛti is there. Another small example: it is daytime now. So the whole world can be seen. As long as the world is seen, sorrow surrounds us. At night you sleep. In sleep there is no world. Nothing can be seen; there is no sorrow either. When the world is there, sorrow is there. They spoke of meditation for forgetting the world. We should forget the world, even for that little while. When? Sunk in Ānanda, we forget the world. That is why there is Ānanda. Eternal Ānanda. That is the supreme Ānanda. That is the Ānanda of yoga. That is the Ānanda of non-duality. That is Saccidānanda. When Sat and Cit both join, there is Ānanda. The children should know. Sat means being: staying ever without change.
