In plain words
Petty-minded, are they? Will the Kauravas, for all their reserve, come to terms with us again? Like scattering jasmine flowers into fire, before the wicked Your kind counsels: what good are they? O treasury of virtues! Why these talks of peace now, Gopāla? Do north and south poles ever meet? Why waste time any longer, without saying "war is ready"?
Do not waste time. Kṛṣṇa, say we are ready for war. Kṛṣṇa! Will the north and south poles meet? Between the two stand east and west. These two cannot meet. Valour bursts forth in youth. The heart of the young is like this. Kṛṣṇa was then 76 years old. Arjuna's age was 74. In those days 76 and 74 were youthful years. Bhīṣma was 112. He was commander in chief. What was the reason? The food and the habits of those days were the root cause of their strength. The food and the habits of today turn one into an old man day by day. Besides, he packs his head with needless thoughts. The young man of today enters a college for the sake of learning and turns into a seeker of sense objects. A student must remain a student. He must not enter into sense objects. If he enters into sense objects, learning is destroyed. Whatever gives light, that is learning. A student must enter only into knowledge that is full of light, and into nothing else. Today he loses his strength through endless talk. The power of the senses, which should last all his life, he loses by eighteen or twenty. A student must guard his divine power of the senses. Even little children wear glasses on their eyes. Today even the young are putting hearing power to their ears. What is the reason? The influence of Kali? It cannot be thought of as the influence of Kali. His own weakness is the cause of it. Instead of setting his mind on the things he needs, he worries endlessly over things he does not need. This worry is worry without any reason at all. That is what makes him suffer. What form does it have? What is the shape of worry. It is mentally created fear only. Apart from that it has no form.
Students! You must nourish your character with courage and daring, grow in good conduct, and become people of ideals. The Prema-tattva in the heart must be set on a sacred path.
