In plain words

"Keśava, Mādhava, Deva, Madhusūdana!" she prayed, her eyes closed. Her husbands, men of great strength, were right there beside her. Great heroes, brave men. Not one of them could protect her. "Apart from Kṛṣṇa alone, I have no other refuge," she prayed. The sacrifice she had made before, He had wound round His own finger. The small cloth tied round that finger turned into something that never ran out. So it is only when we do even a little for God that it becomes possible for us to receive from God without end.

The fruit of karma is not something we can escape. Yet by the grace of God we can escape any fruit of karma whatever. Yet in the law of God it only says that escape is not possible. As the karma, so the result you must go through.

Is it in your power to cross karma, O man? Is it in your power to cross karma? (Karma) Though you recite the ghana chants, though you worship the family deities, though you go off to the dense forests, though you even do severe tapas, (Karma) Dip it in a little spring, dip it in however many seas, as big as the vessel, so much the water; want more as you may, more will not come. (Karma)

However big the vessel is, just that much water is caught. But to make this vessel bigger is God's Special grace. Without it we cannot gain any result at all.

He had the strength of his arms and the strength of his intellect, yet without the strength of God he came to grief; even one as great as Karṇa, what became of him at the last? Do not forget this good word.

He had the strength of his arms. He had the strength of his intellect. All the strength of missiles and weapons was there. Karṇa had it. But he did not have the strength of God.
