In plain words

The stories of God are like this. Do not think of Bābā in any other way," he said. Wadia was greatly astonished. Through my want of sense it has turned out like this. The next day he went again, with his wife. Dāsganu went on ahead. Going with his wife, Wadia was late, of course. When one is alone, one can go straight there. When women are with you, it is a bond. The journey goes slowly. "Hey, Dāsganu! What did Wadia say? How much did he give the Coolie Swāmi?" He asked all this. Wadia heard it. Dāsganu had come right along with him. He went forward and said nothing. "Bābā, forgive me," he said, and fell at His feet. Wadia had taken a big basketful of fruit. He took four fruits from it, called Wadia's wife and gave them to her. In those days women did not take things in their hands. They held out their laps. He put the four fruits into the end of her sari. "You alone must eat these four. You must not give them to anyone else. Four sons will be born to you," He said. Before this Wadia had gone to astrologers and spent money. No one's words had come true. In the very second year after Bābā spoke, a son, lovely as a fruit, was born to him. He took that son and placed him at Bābā's feet; in those days the devotees who came had no lodging at all. So Wadia built a house. It is there even now. It has grown very old. In this way it is not possible even to know of God's ways, what they are, when, where and how they happen. If, since we count ourselves men, we live as men, God will watch over us. Your Manas must be like a good, clean mirror. Gold does not ring as bronze rings. Do not go merely after show. Long for true Ānanda. Do not be merely an artificial person. Be a heartful person. Only then will everything come together for you.

Students! This age is like that. Mistakes of some kinds happen now and then. You must correct those mistakes yourselves and see that they do not come again another time. You must not go on making the same mistakes all your life. You may make mistakes without knowing. After you have come to know, you must not make the mistake again. You must move with understanding. Look, then step. Know, then bow. Know, then step. Is it a stone, a thorn, or dung? Do not walk into a mistake without knowing.
