In plain words
Wherever you look, there is no such thing as virtue, strength or friendship. It is all money. Money, money … So many people have earned money. But where does all this money go? What are they doing? Are they doing any good work or meritorious work? Are they using any of it for Health and education? Not at all. In the past, so many kings relied on wealth and made themselves prosper. How much wealth they piled up! How much name and fame they earned! But where are they now? At the time of going, did they take even this much earth in their hands? Still, in daily life we must earn as befits our honour and dignity. There is nothing wrong in that.
Students! All the studies you pursue, all the studies of today, you think are only for earning money.
Though you boast proudly that you have wealth, there is not a trace of Śānti on this earth; though you strut about as a master of learning, there is not a trace of Śānti on this earth. However much one studies, whatever one's state, the mean man cannot give up his vice; search and study as one may, it is only argument; he can never attain full Jñāna.
This is the glory of today's learning. Arguments and counter-arguments. Arguing like this is not good; through it enmity grows, but calm does not come to us. We must bear everything with patience. If man would safeguard humanness in his life, he must safeguard the 3 Ps. The very first P, purity. The second, patience. The third, perseverence. These three are human values. When you have this purity, you proclaim Satya and Dharma. You experience them. You practise them, you enjoy them. When you have Śānti, you practise Dharma and Ahiṃsā. When you have perseverence, you experience all of these. He who has Prema does not enter into violence. He who has Dharma does not resort to violence. He who has Satya does not enter into riots. These riots are of no use to one who has Śānti. So if they have any one of these four, Satya, Dharma, Śānti and Prema, they will observe the Dharma of Ahiṃsā.
