Unity is very necessary. We must work together. ‘Move together, and there is happiness,’ they said. Broad feelings must come to students today. We must cultivate a broad heart. Where in the body is the heart? The physical heart is on the left side. The physical heart is like a main switch for the body. The heart is everywhere. The heart has no limit at all; as far as our heart travels, all who are there are our kin. With this kind of forbearance we must live in unity. Education is not merely for filling the stomach. Education is for refinement. If we develop this refinement, our livelihood will keep going on. Every day you pray. Dharma protects the one who protects it. If you go on protecting Dharma, that very Dharma will protect you. So we must carry Dharma forward in society in the right way.
Students! Bhāratīya culture, or foreign culture, is still there in some small measure in the villages, but not in the towns. The Dharma, justice, forbearance and Prema that are in the villages are not in the towns. In the towns courts have come up. Banks have come up. Universities have come up. Ever so many things have come. The injustice, wrongdoing and misconduct that go on in the towns that have all these are beyond measure. In the villages there is morality and honesty. In the villages there are backward people. The Satya and Dharma that are in them are not in the town people. They have been preserving our culture. Today, what are we doing with our studies? We are burning up our culture. We are setting fire to our morality and honesty. We are ruining humanness itself. What is humanness? It is lakhs of years since man was born. But humanness has not yet been born of man. Man has been born, but humanness has not been born. When is humanness ever to be born? How many births have perished, how many births are yet to come! Humanness must be born along with men. You must speak Satya. A person who speaks Satya is nowhere to be seen. Open the mouth, and it is Asatya. Put out a hand, and it is Adharma. How can this be humanness? Animals and birds have morality and honesty. They have a season reason. But for the one born as man, no reason no season. Then what are your studies for? We must pursue studies for some purpose. Why study useless studies? We must pursue studies useful to society. We must pursue the education that makes our humanness grow.
