In plain words

Culture is what refines all these. The culture of Bhārata is very precious. That is why, in the culture of Bhārata, Dharma, artha, kāma and Mokṣa were called the puruṣārthas. There are four of them. The first is Dharma, the last is Mokṣa. Today the people of this age have cut these two away and are living in artha and kāma. Both artha and kāma must be filled with Dharma. They must be given to Dharma. There must be a life of Dharma. Only in that does artha have its value. Human life is made up of artha and paramārtha! Life's artha, and paramārtha. Human life is the form in which the two are blended. Such human values we have forgotten. That is why man's value has dwindled. Go to buy any small thing in the world today: its value has gone up a great deal. Even the broom you sweep with has gone up in value. But man's worth has fallen. Man has no value at all. What is the reason? Because the qualities that should be in a man are not in him, he has lost his value. Human values are of the very first importance to man; they are his standard. We must keep showing these standards in daily life, in what we do. We must make our words sacred. Each must make his own actions sacred.

Human life is made of the moral, the dhārmic and the spiritual

Students of today! Listen to My word: never speak a harsh word; harsh words do harm; going from room to room is a sickness; a student's life must be a light.

The first thing to learn: you must speak your words well. You can’t always oblige, but you can speak always obligingly. What sets out from room to room is a rat and a cat. If you set these qualities right, you will do very well indeed.
