In plain words

In this too there must be Sat-Cit-Ānanda. What does Sat mean? Being. What does Cit mean? Awareness. The oneness of these two is Ānanda. We seek Ānanda. Cit is within us. Sat too is within us. You can recognise this truth in the word Bābā. BABA, double degree. 1st B- Being, A-Awareness, 2nd B-Bliss, A-Ananda. Bābā is the very form of Sat-Cit-Ānanda! These four principles are in every human being. Before our eyes, so many people die. Yet he thinks, ‘I shall remain.’ That is the being in him speaking: ‘Hey! You are not one to die. The body goes, but you do not die. The Ātma is real, it is eternal.’ Then the body too must come to have such a nature. What does that mean? Must the body never die? No. Even when the body goes, there is no birth again. For one who has drunk the nectar called Prema for God, there is no birth. ‘Punarjanma navidyate.’ ‘Punarapi jananaṃ, punarapi maraṇaṃ’: that is not for us. There is a grain of paddy. If you put a grain of paddy into the soil, ‘punarapi jananaṃ punarapi maraṇaṃ’. If you take off the husk on it, even if you put it in the soil, ‘punarjanma navidyate’. That very husk is our attachment. As long as there is the husk called attachment, punarapi jananaṃ punarapi maraṇaṃ. Śaṅkara said:

Hari Govindā, Hari Govindā; say ‘Hari Govindā’, O fool! When death is moving near, grammar will not save you! (Hari …)

‘O dull-witted one! You cannot understand this at all. Hari Govindā! Hari Govindā! Remember God. Experience Prema for God. Feast on the nectar. Experience Ānanda, and share it with others. Try to experience Ānanda.’ This is man's chief goal. ‘I have earned, I have built houses, I did that, I did this’: so you pride yourself. What is the use of doing all this? When the time comes to go, you must go empty-handed.
