In plain words
We must believe in the Lord first of all. Only when we believe in the Lord can we enjoy Prakṛti well and in peace. This is nothing new to the students; I have told it many times. In this world conflict between good and evil goes on all the time. Between Dharma and Adharma the conflict goes on and on. This cannot be avoided. On one side the Kauravas, on the other the Pāṇḍavas. One is Dharma, the second Adharma. Between these two the conflict goes on all the time. But the attitudes of mind in the two of them are distinct. The Kauravas believed that they were kings, and so it was ‘I’ first of all. ‘Next World,’ they said. ‘GOD last,’ they said. This is the tradition of the Kauravas; that of the Pāṇḍavas is not so. With the Pāṇḍavas it is 1st GOD, next World, last ‘I’. That is why, for those who are supreme devotees, those who are embodiments of Brahman, it is 1st GOD. They keep God in the very first place. For this reason, in the culture and tradition of Bhārata, the very first year is Prabhava. Then Vibhava. In this way they have kept on speaking the names of God alone. He is bound up with nothing whatever. So the ṛṣis gave Him another name. ‘Aprameya,’ they called Him. What does Aprameya mean? The One who is not caught in the least by any means of proof, direct or indirect. The means of proof are of three kinds. Proof by direct perception, proof by inference, proof by indirect means. God is the One whom no proof whatever can catch.
The Ātma in all is one
It is not possible to settle that God is like this or like that. Whoever says, ‘This one is God, this one is not,’ is a fool. What is the reason? ‘Mamātma sarva bhūtāntarātma.’ The Ātma in all is one! The current in all the bulbs is one! The sugar in all the sweets is one! The gold in all the jewels is one!
