Passage 13

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Having entered, drinking in that intoxication, I shall sink into absorption. If You are a tree, I must become a creeper. How? I must go only twining round You; I must not go far from You.

If You are the great ocean, as a river I shall become one with You.

When You are born as the ocean, I must come as a river and become one with You.

If You are Mount Meru, spreading out I shall flow as a mountain stream; if You are the endless sky, as a little star I shall sparkle in You.

If You are the big sky, I shall come and be in You as a little star. So there must be no parting at all between You and us. There must be no separation. Union alone must ever be ours. That union itself is the true principle of Bhakti, they said. Sālokya, sāmīpya, sārūpya, sāyujya. This is the chief path. Sālokya: I must be in Your thought. Sāmīpya: I must be near You. Sārūpya: I must attain Your form. Sāyujya: I must become one in You. This itself is the fifth puruṣārtha, they said. There are four puruṣārthas. Dharma, artha, kāma and Mokṣa. But this sacred joining is the fifth principle of man. This itself is parama-bhakti, they said. There is nothing in the world beyond parama-bhakti. However much one describes, there is nothing beyond it.

If he forgets God, even a hero becomes a zero

Students! Pursue your studies. Take up jobs. Get married. Have children by the dozen. There is nothing wrong in it. But do not forget God. If you forget God, life is no life at all, however great you may be! You may become Prime Minister, you may become President.
