In plain words
Why go searching about, asking, ‘Where is God?’ Is Īśvara not there in the heart? Give service, and receive Prema; in that way, come to know the principle of God.
Students!
‘Vidyā dadāti vinayaṃ,’ they said: that is, the goal of education is humility. Education is that in which humility comes first. Humility does not mean merely standing with folded hands and bowed head. Only actions free of Ahaṅkāra and mamakāra are humility. Only when he spends his life, in everyday living, in actions free of Ahaṅkāra and mamakāra can a man become a rightly educated person.
Do not strut about, saying, ‘I have gained learning’; do not go about, saying, ‘I have brains.’ Having read all the learning there is and grown very discerning, the dull-witted man does not know himself in his mind. However much he studies, in whatever way he lives, the base man cannot give up his fault.
Study upon study gives only argument and debate; never can he gain full Jñāna. Why study and study and study, only to die? You must study the learning that knows no death.
