Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

The eyes are sweet, the speech is sweet, the hands are sweet, the feet are sweet; all of the Lord of Madhurā is sweet.

This is the chief aim of oneness. In fact, when you speak in your mind, it comes out very harsh. That shows there is no sweetness within. There is only plain water. God is right there. But you are not looking in the right way. What is the reason? Because the disease of Ahaṅkāra and mamakāra is within! When malaria fever has got into the body, even if you eat something sweet it tastes bitter. The fault is not in the sweet; it is in the tongue. In the same way, Divinity pervades everywhere in your body. But because this disease of Ahaṅkāra and attachment is there, your mind has lost its sweetness.

Whatever actions we do, we must do them with purity of citta

Whatever work we do, we must do it with all our heart. There is no use in doing it with the body alone. We must do it with the mind. All the teachings Swami gives every day are not for your bodies but for the mind. When you teach the mind, it stays fixed for ever. What comes of merely saying you are a man? You hear with your ears, and then you let it go out. Whatever actions we do, we must do them with purity of citta. ‘Cittasya śuddhaye karmaḥ.’ We must set our life in sacred actions. We must take up actions that are for the good of others. Looking on society as the Lord of all, we must enter into the service of society. Vice-Chancellor Sampath, telling of the deer in the form of stories, went on speaking in many ways of Nārāyaṇa, Śiva, Kṛṣṇa and Rāma. In My view, it is a mistake to regard all these as separate. ‘Ekaṃ sat viprāḥ bahudhā vadanti.’ God is one! Call Him ‘Allah’, call Him ‘Jesus’, call Him ‘Guru Nānak’, call Him ‘Rāma!’, call Him ‘Kṛṣṇa!’; call Him by any name you like: God is one! How so? All these are only like the various limbs of the body!
