In plain words
Look at a film recording plate, and it stays in one way only; set it right in the sound box and try it, and it speaks out songs of many kinds.
Embodiments of Prema!
You are not sinners. You are not the virtuous. You are not embodiments of happiness. You are not embodiments of sorrow. You are not embodiments of mantra. Not embodiments of holy waters. Not embodiments of yantra. Not embodiments of tantra. All of you are nothing but embodiments of Sat-Cit-Ānanda! So you must go on contemplating this auspicious saying without a break. ‘Śivoham, Śivoham, Śivoham.’ ‘I myself am Śiva’, ‘I myself am Śiva’, ‘I myself am Śiva’: whatever man fixes this true feeling of the one Ātma firmly in his heart, he alone is blessed to receive God's grace.
‘I’ is the very first word
From the man too poor to eat to the millionaire, from the ignorant person to the paramahaṃsa, from the child to the old man, among women and men, each one, when he has to introduce himself, uses the word ‘I’, ‘I’. This very word ‘I’ pervades everywhere. Ask any man, ‘What is your name, where have you come from?’, and he says, ‘I have come from Bangalore.’ He puts ‘I’ to use first, and then says, ‘have come from Bangalore’. When asked, ‘Who are you?’, he says, ‘I am Sūrayya, son of Rāmayya.’ Whatever answer people give, they cannot give any answer without the word ‘I’. If you ask him what his name is, he goes on telling it in ever so many ways.
