Passage 15

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

There is no strength beyond the strength of God

However many strengths there may be, without the strength of God there is no use. In the Rāmāyaṇa nothing equals the strength of Hanumān. Then, in the Bhārata, no strength matches what Bhīma had. Now, how great is the strength of God? In a single moment it shakes the earth, as an earthquake! In a single moment it pours down a torrential rain and the whole earth turns to water. One single sun gives light to the world. So the strength of God is very great.

Though one has strength of arm and good strength of Buddhi, without the strength of God he became helpless; Karṇa, great as he was, what became of him in the end? Do not forget this good word.

Our strength of arm, strength of body, strength of wealth, strength of people: these are not the strengths that matter. The strength of God, the strength of Dharma. Whether you do any sādhana or do none, go on remembering always the feeling ‘Ahaṃ brahmāsmi’! ‘Brahmavit brahmaivabhavati’. You yourself become Brahman. Do not set up baseless relationships. I and you are one! That is Divinity. We must strive for that Divinity. However many bhajans you do, however many pūjās you do, however much japa you do, however many kinds of yajña, yāga and other rites you perform, all these are only for the satisfaction of the mind! The mind is always unsteady. You must not go after the satisfaction of the mind. You must strive for the satisfaction of the Ātma. That conscience is the citta. That is awareness. We must attain such a sacred principle of Jñāna. In Sat-Cit-Ānanda, Sat: being, Cit: awareness. The oneness of these two is Ānanda. We must keep remembering it always. We must keep singing it always.
