In plain words

Abhimanyu grew angry.

Unafraid, upon Kumbhaja and the Kuru heroes, like the king of beasts, as I leap on them, the lofty ranks of shattering divine great weapons scattering: instead of saying, ‘Win and come back, son; good will be yours,’ to hold me back so fiercely in this way, ‘Do not go, do not go’: is it fitting for you?

‘Uncle! Is this Dharma on your part? If I die, I die. You are my elder father, who should tell me to fall on the enemies like a lion, tear them apart, cut them down and bring back victory: is it fitting for you to say, ‘Do not go, do not go’?’ he asked. The nature of students in those days was valour. They laboured for the honour of the family. Prahlāda too was just the same! People who took on so great a sacrifice: such were the people of those days. He came to his mother and bowed at her feet. What does she do? She placed her hand on his head and blessed him:

When he went to crush the pride of Tārakāsura's arms, the protection of valour placed on Gaurī's son; when he went forth to slay Śambarāsura, the noble protection placed on Bhārgavī's son; when he sprang to end his mother's bondage, the pure protection placed on Vinatā's son; when He went to the forest to keep His father's word, the protection of Dharma His mother placed on Rāghava; that blessed protection, that great protection, the protection of the sacrifice, and, divine among protections, the protection of Śrī Rāma: may it go with you as your companion and your shadow and keep you safe!

With so many protections his mother sent him off. However many protections are given, if God's protection is not there, all the protections are useless!
