In plain words

Without gold no jewels can be made. Without clay pots cannot be made. That is the root support. There is only one such chief thing. Call them Muslims, call them Hindus: for all of them, what there is, is one! The names are different. God is one and goal is one. This Advaita must be taught to you in a way you can understand. Advaita is not so easily understood. Śaṅkarācārya toured the whole of Bhārata and made all the paṇḍits accept the doctrine of Advaita. What he established is the very doctrine of Advaita. That is the Advaita religion. What does religion mean? Religion is not what sees things as separate. Religion is what shows forth the oneness in manyness. All went on accepting Advaita of this kind. In the end, at a very young age, that is, in only his 32nd year, he left the body. The work he had come for was done. In the days to come, you must safeguard the doctrine of Advaita he had taught. Then he brought 5 liṅgas. He went on installing each liṅga in a place of its own. Founding four pīṭhas at the four corners of the country, he installed those four liṅgas in them. Last of all he placed the Yoga-liṅga in Kāñcī. Sureśa: he is Maṇḍana Miśra himself. He was his disciple. Through teaching the Advaita religion he calmed the strife in the world, rooted out hatred, and laboured to make Ānanda grow through the feeling of the one Ātma. In this way Śaṅkara's line of disciples set out across the whole country and went on spreading his teachings. Vidyāraṇya too was one in Śaṅkara's line of disciples. Among these disciples, unity with one another was lost. What one said, another would not accept. In the Christian religion too it was the same. As soon as Jesus went, differences arose among His 11 disciples, one with another. In the end one remained. That was Matthew. He was a tax collector. He went on spreading only what he himself had written down. The first to join was Peter. When they came to seize Peter, he said, ‘I am not Christ's follower.’ Such selfishness, such self-interest! Those teachings were all broken into fragments.
