In plain words

Without saying ‘awareness’ or ‘forgetting’, constantly, in waking, dream and deep sleep, without a break, at all times, steadily, the jīvātma recites the tāraka: you must know it straight, brother; by the grace of the sadguru, look closely and see the difference, brother!

I am the one who has come to know; you are the one who does not know. You speak only of the present bodily relationship between you and him. You do not know the past. You know it; but you have forgotten. “Swami! You are here, they are here, I am here,” you say. You are looking with a worldly vision. So forgetting has come. I look with the vision of nivṛtti.’

God Is Always Aware!

God is the One whom the three times cannot touch. ‘With Me there is always awareness. You have forgotten,’ He said. A fine example. The names differ; they differ. I am telling it so that you will understand. Once you went on a trip to Kashmir. There you bought a suit-length of cloth because it came very cheap. You bought good, costly cloth. You brought it home and gave it to your mother. She tossed it into the cupboard. You forgot it. Ten years went by. Then, while she was looking for something, this cloth turned up. The mother saw it: ‘Rāma! This is the cloth you brought. Have it stitched,’ she said, and gave it to you. You had it stitched. The tailor gave it back that very evening. On the next day, your birthday, you put it on. You bent down to hand your younger brother the sweets Mother had brought. As you bent, the cloth tore. Mother asked: ‘Son! It is new cloth! Has it torn already?’ The son explained it this way: ‘Mother! The suit is new; but the cloth is old. Is that true or not? You forgot. I am aware.’ The difference between you and Me is just this! With Me, awareness; with you, forgetting. Besides this, on the battlefield all the young ones died. Then Arjuna felt great pain. ‘Abhimanyu was young, was he not! What is the reason for his going? I am old, am I not; why should I not go!’ he said.
