Passage 5

In plain words

After that all his desires go on arising in him.

Prema is God, God is Prema

Only after Prema comes all the rest! Prema is God, God is Prema. What kind of Prema? Not a natural Prema. Not a worldly Prema. Not a Prema bound up with the world. Not an unsteady Prema. The eternal, true, attributeless, formless, divine Prema of God alone is true Prema. Today, for lack of faith in God and faith in the Ātma, man has had to fall into many troubles. First of all we must build up faith in the Ātma. The Ātma is our mother; everything arises from the Ātma alone. Every man in the world is the very embodiment of the Ātma! Man is not merely the body. Through this attachment to the body man cannot gain the purity he should gain. God is not in Badrīnāth, in Kedārnāth, in Haridvār, in Ṛṣikeś, in Tirupati, or in Dharmakṣetra. All these are only natural fancies of the mind! First of all, God is the dweller in your heart. The controller of your life. He is in your heart. So first of all man must stop his talk and open his heart. The heads of men are seen to be many. But the heart is one! Every man who has recognised this truth must cut down his talk and open his heart. What is the reason why the man of today falls into unrest?

Silence is the sweetness of life

He keeps his heart shut and multiplies his words. We must shut the mouth and open the heart. Only then will true Ānanda come to us. If you keep the heart shut and keep only the mouth open, the knowledge of the Ātma will not be understood at all. So all the great sages of old went on keeping the vrata called silence. Silence is the sweetness of life. The sound within silence is Brahman itself. So man must cut down his talk to some extent and recognise the way to make his heart broad. The heart alone always gives light to the world!
