Passage 8

In plain words

Today man piles up money through jobs and through business. If man truly wants Ānanda, he must foster the wealth of Prema. You put money into a company. You put it into an insurance company. But these companies are never permanent. Keep your all safe in the company called the Prema of God! Your deposit will not go anywhere. This deposit keeps on growing, double and double again. What happens is this: you put your wealth of Prema into impermanent banks like these, and in the end those very banks are wiped out. Anything can be stolen, but no theft of the wealth of Prema can take place. It is not outward banks that we need. Where must we store this Prema? In which bank must we deposit it? If you put it in the bank called the heart, it has no doors and no locks. Yet it stays safe, true and lasting, without the least stir or movement. This very thing they called the embodiment of amṛta. Higher than the embodiment of amṛta is the embodiment of Prema. We think of it as amṛta. Amṛta gives meaning to worldly life. It gives a little relish to the worldly tongue. But what gives relish to the heart itself is the amṛta of Prema. So today every man must take a solemn vow to drink the amṛta of Prema.

Only when tyāga is crowned can Prema be welcomed

What we must crown today is tyāga. Only when we crown tyāga can we welcome Prema. Only then do our strength and ability blaze forth. Whatever is thought of comes to fruition at once. To that heart which has been offered, neither unrest nor adversity nor sorrow ever comes. With this in view, the Vedas declared, ‘Na karmaṇā na prajayā dhanena tyāgenaike amṛtatvamānasuḥ.’
