In plain words

So we must live in Prema alone. ‘Such a one alone is supremely dear to God. He alone is My devotee’: so it is in the Gītā. Whoever lives in Prema, he alone is a friend to God. But the friends of today are friends of a very contrary kind. When there is money in the pocket and the father is in power, many friends come saying ‘Hello’. No money in the pocket, the father's power gone. They do not even say goodbye. Is that friendship? God is not like that. God is always with you, in you, around you. We must win such a Friend. So real friend is God. We must strive to reach such an everlasting Friend.

If we can win the Prema of God, we can stay close to God for ever

All the pleasures in this world are only drifting clouds! How long will it last! New people keep coming. However many changes happen, we must not change this, our fundamental. At birth a child, at ten a youth, after 30 middle-aged, after 75 an old man. Yet the person is one alone! The change is in time. That is the fundamental. The one who is there is one alone! He himself is the child, the youth, the middle-aged man, the old man. Just so, at the start he is a devotee who worships God. Then, when some hardships and sorrows come, he is an ārta. For some time more he takes the form of an arthārthi. Next, a jijñāsi. In that way one must take up a close bond of kinship with God. A little story. A rich man had four wives. The eldest was given to much spiritual thought. The second wife's health was somewhat poor. The third wife was always reading good books. The fourth wife was a modern wife. Everything fashion: saris and jewels were what she wanted. Once that rich man went to America on business. The work he had gone there for was not finished. He kept putting off his journey home. Then he wrote four letters to the four wives.
