Passage 7

In plain words

It is not a physical joy, like a cloud that drifts away. It is the eternal, true Ānanda. So you must pray to God, “I want Your Prema, I want Your Ānanda.” He who offers this kind of prayer is the true devotee. He who asks for worldly desires, “I want this, I want that,” is no devotee at all. You must long for the Prema of God, eternal and true. If that divine Prema arises in you, the whole world is filled with Prema! The whole world is filled with Ānanda! If you look with eyes filled with Ānanda, the whole world appears full of Ānanda. If you look with a feeling filled with hatred, the whole world appears full of hatred. So first change your vision; do not try to change creation. This is God's creation. No one can change it. Root out your spoiled vision, your vision that torments, and cultivate the vision of Prema, the vision of Śānti, the vision of forbearance, the vision of Ānanda. If you put red glasses before your eyes, the whole world looks red. If you wear blue glasses, the whole world looks blue. In the same way, if your heart is full of Prema, your vision becomes full of Brahman. Everything is full of Brahman. No one is an enemy to you. No one is a hater of you. You must make the broad feeling “All are my own form” grow day by day. Whatever anyone may think, you need not take any account of it. When you are following the good path, why should you fear? There is no need to fear anything; you must be courageous. When does courage come? Only when you do good work does courage come. So develop Prema. What kind of Prema? Not a Prema that breaks in a moment; a true Prema is what is needed. That itself is immortality, that itself is deathlessness.
