Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

We must strive to gain that Prema for God. Worldly love breeds impurity. Through it the whole world becomes impure. The reason: because we look with an impure eye, the whole world turns impure. Whatever colour of glasses we put over our eyes, that is how the world looks. So every man must cultivate the vision of Prema. Only then will the whole world be filled with Jñāna and with Prema. If we are to see everything with an equal eye, that is possible only through Prema. Never let bad qualities like hatred and envy come near you. Such qualities come to man through his food and his habits. In no situation must you become subject to these qualities.

All beings are parts of God

This day the year 1998 has begun. At least from today, make your hearts full of Prema. Believe all to be the children of God. ‘Mamaivāṃśo jīvaloke jīvabhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ’, it was said. All are parts of God. When I am a part of God, am I doing God's work or not? Are divine feelings arising in me or not? Am I conducting myself so as to please God, or not? When we enquire in this way, you become true to the meaning of ‘mamaivāṃśo’. If you practise demonic qualities, how can you be ‘mamaivāṃśo’? So from today, every man must go on cultivating the quality of Prema. Every day experience Prema yourself, and share Prema with all. When Prema is shared out in this way, the whole world can become full of Prema.

Fill your hearts with Prema for God and go

Understand one small thing. What is the reason so many thousands have gathered here today? Something that is not in you, not in your home, not in your country, is here. That is what you have come to receive. What is it? It is Prema for God, divine Prema. That divine Prema is not in you, not in your home, not in your country. That is why you have come running here.
