In plain words
These may be called good deeds rather than Bhakti. Cultivate anurakti, turn it into virakti, refashion it as rakti, and attain Mukti: this is true Bhakti. Mukti does not exist apart; virakti from the world is the path to Mukti. What does Mokṣa mean? ‘The end of delusion is Mokṣa,’ it was said. There should be desires, but keep them within limits. Less luggage, more comfort, make travel a pleasure.
The students are my property
From this new year, only when the children cultivate humility and obedience and become students who hold up a sacred ideal will I be truly happy. Yesterday, in our Trust meeting, I said one thing. Indulal Shah too is right here. Do not connect me with these properties and with money. With no tie to this money or these properties, my tie is with the devotees alone. Having taken this decision, I signed and handed it over. My whole property is you. Holding such wealth as never wanes, why should I desire wealth that wanes? My children alone are my property. If they attain a good ideal, there is no greater joy for me than that. That is the toll you pay me. I take no money of any kind. I take no fees of any sort. One fee I cannot help asking for. That is the fee called Prema. If you offer that, you will have offered everything. You must bring glory to the country.
Right vision, good deeds
Lakṣmaṇa gave up everything and lived in the forest for fourteen years to serve Rāma. During this life in the forest, though he served Sītā and Rāma, he never once looked at Sītā's face. What was the reason? To look at another man's wife is a great sin, it was said. An elder brother's wife is like a mother. He regarded her as his mother. So we must take care that our vision is good. We must turn the deeds we do into sacred ones.
