Passage 14

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

See no evil, see what is good Talk no evil, talk what is good Hear no evil, hear what is good Think no evil, think what is good Do no evil, do what is good This is the way to GOD.

Do not think, “I have eyes, after all,” and look at things like a crow. The crow looks at everything; and what does it look at? It looks at foul things. Our eyes must try to see God. Whether our eyes are closed or open, God alone must appear to us. Only when we hold to a vision of this kind will the whole creation change.

Every moment is a new year

Embodiments of the Ātma of Prema! Today is a new year, but this is the English year. The year of Bhārata comes separately too. It is kept in two ways: they keep it by the solar reckoning and by the lunar reckoning. The people of the south all keep the new year by the lunar month. The people of the north all keep it by the solar reckoning. All these they keep as suits each of them. However it is kept, a new year is a new year. But regard every second as new. Go on doing deeds that are dear to God. Cultivate Prema for God. Whatever you have or lack, if you have Prema for God you can achieve everything.

Satya Hariścandra lost his wife, his kingdom, everything, and in the end became a keeper of the cremation ground. But he did not swerve from Satya in the least. For the sake of Satya he offered up everything. He held that Satya alone is God. In the end God gave back to him the kingdom he had lost, his wife, his son, all of it. When we make such a sacrifice, we will have achieved everything. You must make yourselves ready for such sādhanas. I bless you, and I wish, that from this new year all of you may flourish in happiness and gladness, free of every trouble, in joy, in delight and in health.
