In plain words
Speak words that do not hurt others. You cannot always oblige, but you can speak always obligingly. Use sacred words; do not ruin your life for selfishness and self-interest. Do not drown in selfishness so that your desires may be fulfilled. Who knows how many kinds of trouble life will meet in the days ahead? There is no happiness in it at all. There is no happiness in the learning you have learnt. There is no happiness in the job you do. There is no happiness in the money you have earned. There is no Śānti in the mansions you have raised. Where is Śānti for you? Śānti is in your own heart. You are the embodiment of Peace, You are the embodiment of truth, you are the embodiment of God. You are God. Believe firmly that you are God. Make the humanness in you sacred. Only when you recognise humanness do you become fit to recognise divinity. If you cannot recognise even the humanness natural in you, how can you ever recognise divinity? First of all recognise the humanness within you. Make this humanness fruitful. It enters divinity of itself. Time without end, people give their lives to physical comforts, physical joys and physical good fortune. But man makes no effort for spiritual Ānanda, for the Ānanda of Jñāna. If you experience that true Ānanda of the Ātma, every Ānanda comes within your reach. Put into practice even one good thing you have come to know. If you go through life reading and reading, when will you ever put it into practice? What use is learning that is not put into practice? All this is a waste of time. It is a waste of your energy. In the end everything you have read stays lodged in your heart. With those very things you give up your life. Then there is no room at all to think of divinity. Only physical, worldly, earthly matters fill your heart. “Anityam asukhaṃ lokam imaṃ prāpya bhajasva mām”: this is the chief command the Bhagavad Gītā gives.
