Passage 16

In plain words

I speak what is needed. When I call people into the room to hear their wishes, I tell them only what they need. I do not try to talk idly about whatever I please. Why? Only when I practise what I say will you become fit to practise it. When I tell you something, I must do it and show you. My life is my message. My life is my message. I must do it and show you. But many cannot understand. If you cannot understand, you may sit with your mouth shut. But you must not misunderstand. That is the great sin. What you must learn from today is to keep your vision under control. Look only at the good. Do not set up telescopes and look at what is far away. Why binoculars, to look at needless things far off? Why look at that? What use is it? Look at whoever comes near you in need; all this other is foolish belief. It is great ignorance. We must not take such a path. Your eyes are gone; you cannot see. You must think: this too is for my good. It is good for me. Suppose you have gone deaf. There is no need to grieve, “I cannot hear a thing.” What is there in this world worth hearing? Is it hearing these people abuse those and those abuse these? I do not hear any of it. It is good for me. Whatever happens, regard it all as gifts of God's grace. Believe that they are good for our life. People from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and China have come here from there. What must you do? They have come here weighed down, with many cares, many troubles and many worries. Leave all these here, fill your hearts with Ānanda and go. Leave the bad feelings and bad thoughts you had before here in Prasanthi Nilayam. Fill your hearts with this praśānti and go. Do not come in unrest and go back in unrest. For man, praśānti is a most vital breath of life. But today praśānti is to be found nowhere in the world. Search the whole world, street by street. Wherever you go there is no peace; wherever you go, pieces, pieces.
