In plain words
I can lengthen it at any minute. I have this freedom… Whatever work I do, it is positive work; there is not one negative work. When that body is touched, negative thoughts do not come. Everything is positive.
In this way what I do and what I say are one. Not only now. From the ninth year of this body I have done everything in this way. In this village there was one Karaṇam Subbarao. Subbamma's husband. He was the land lord of the village. All the lands around here were his. Everyone was afraid at the sight of him. If the karaṇam called them, they would go trembling. I am this tall even now. Then I was smaller still. His conduct was very bad. I wrote all those songs, called all the children, and had them sing; and when he sat in front of the brindāvanam, I would tell them to go on singing in front of him. "Swami, the karaṇam may beat us," they said. "He has no right to touch your body. You are going with my song. Positive thoughts. When we teach the truth, no one has the right to blame us or to harm us." I taught the children well. They set a good rāga, practised it well, and went about singing it well. Those children did not know the meaning, poor things. The first day, the karaṇam got up and went inside. The second day the children stood across his way and sang. He went inside, gave them mango juice, and said, "Please do not sing these songs." When he asked, "Who taught you?" they said, "Raju taught us, sir." "So Raju is doing all this!" he thought, and one day he told Raju to come for tiffin. I said, "I do not want tiffin." "A small boy is speaking so firmly!" and he grew very angry too. I teach only the lessons that suit the situation of that day. I wrote a song.
God alone is the true friend
Do not fall into the clutches of the courtesans; surely you will become utterly base; the people of your caste will not let you touch the pot; your relatives, seeing you, will drive you out; your friends, looking at you, will beat you with a sandal.
