Passage 18

In plain words

When they sang in this way, the children were very frightened. In the situation of those days, such words were what had to be used for them. In this way, to set things right, I have been bringing changes into the world through writings, songs and plays. My nature is to do every single thing and show it. I do not say it without doing it. I do it. I say that this is good. But whatever I do is positive, not negative. I have no desires at all. I called all the children property. Even now a boy said, "Swami's property." It is true. All are my property. But in property there are things of value and properties without value too. There are some lands, valuable ones. We put something like a fence round them. That thorn fence is my property too. There is good, and there is bad too. But the students must become my property. They must not become thorny property. They must not become rocky property. They must become like property of the hills. They must become people of that kind. So I have been taking these students and giving them the training they need.

But many students do not try to recognise my principle. Their level is like that. Their state is such. They understand according to their level. Some day, when they come up to my level, they will surely recognise it. But one thing you must recognise. In me, from foot to hair of the head, there are no negative thoughts. There are no negative desires. Then how can any fault come? All is positive. But when I teach others I make it take a negative form. In this way you must try to recognise Swami's principle well. I have said it many times. Do not talk much. Talk less - work more. But nobody follows it. Some children tell me: "My parents tell me to get married." I do not tell you not to marry.
