In plain words

They give you a salary that befits your job. You must do work that befits that salary. You must ask yourself: "Am I doing the work that befits this or not?" Only when you do the work that befits it does it become positive. Otherwise it too becomes negative. In small matters like these you can settle what is positive and what is negative. Where did you earn this money from? You earned it from society. You must use it again for society itself. When we use it for this society, it becomes positive. You must try to live with that spirit of sacrifice. That is why the Veda said: "Not by work, not by offspring, not by wealth; by renunciation alone have some attained immortality." Only then does your heart become holy. Your heart becomes very wide. You will live with a compassionate heart. The compassionate heart becomes the temple of God. Turn the temple of your heart into the temple of God. Set about living as God, with the feeling of God. Look for a way to go about without hurting or paining anyone. That is the goal of life. That is the ideal life. That is the true life of sālokya. Sālokya is in daily life itself. Sāyujya is in daily life itself. If you think of that divinity with joy, that itself turns into sāyujya for you. Do not be content with sādhanas and bhajans. Rather than setting tunes in the bhajan, develop the right feelings in your heart. Put away your beastly feelings. Put away your bad feelings. This is the true sign of having done bhajan. If you sit doing bhajan on one side while you go on filling yourself within with bad feelings, wicked thoughts and evil plans, then what use is it to do bhajan? Such a bhajan becomes only a negative bhajan. It becomes no more than a tape recorder. We must not become tape recorders. We must show the ideal. All the feelings of the songs we sing must be printed in our heart. Only then do you and your heart become one. If the children grow such feelings, it is a great joy to me.
