In plain words
All desires are negative desires. But in place of those negative desires, long for divine desires. These will come to you naturally. Even in the worldly realm, what is fitting for you will keep coming to you. You need not ask for them specially, nor do anything for them. Go on doing it with the feeling of God. That itself will come to you. So we must not think that we are living for physical things. One can enjoy physical things any day. How many births have they taken, how many births have they lived through! At least in this birth one must long to experience the feeling for the Supreme. They are unable to recognise that such sacred power is in man. The whole world itself is in man. The chief thing in this world is man. In man there are feelings of great worth. Why do they waste such precious humanness? Man's sight is very important. Man's word is very sweet. Man's works too are very worthwhile. Having such worthwhile things, why do they waste them? It is the hands that do good, and the hands that do evil. So instead of doing evil, do good and experience joy. You must put yourself into these sacred actions. Help ever hurt never. We must not enter into evil deeds. To do hurt is negative. To help is positive. To gladden the heart with sacred words is positive. To wound another mind with harsh words is negative. What is called negative is what hurts the other person. If you do so, those pains will come to you as well. There is no need to hurt anyone. You need not suffer. In the Sumati Śatakam he has said it:
Without hurting others, without being hurt himself, the one who goes about steering clear is blessed, O Sumati!
So he said. If you cause pain to another, you will have to suffer ten times that pain. Do not cause pain. Do not suffer pain yourself. When? When positive thoughts come, both are happy. Man today must keep reducing negative thoughts little by little.
