In plain words
Mukti for the body? Mukti for the mind? Mukti for the Buddhi, or Mukti for the senses? They do not find out who needs Mukti. "I want Mukti, I want Mukti." No answer comes to this question. What I mean is this: the body needs Mukti. The antaḥkaraṇa needs Mukti. What does Mukti mean? To free it from its suffering: that is Mukti. Hunger strikes. If you take a meal to free the body from its hunger, that itself is Mukti for the body. You have your senses. The senses roam as they please. To set them on the right path is itself Mukti. Some pains and illnesses have come to your body. To remove the pain is also Mukti. Freedom from suffering is itself Mukti. Then how is life to have Mukti? This life is sinking under many desires, many hopes, many delusions, many hardships. What is the root cause of all this? Suffering of this kind comes because we have taken on a body. So if we are not born, we will have none of this suffering, will we? So what does one who seeks true Mukti ask for? 'Swāmi, I want no more birth. Only when I take on this birth does all this suffering come. If there were no births, there would be no suffering at all. So I do not want this birth at all. You, make the birth worthwhile.' When it is made worthwhile, that itself is Mukti. Through the body many kinds of delusion arise. And this body becomes the root cause of many diseases. But if one asks what the root cause of diseases is in this Kali age, no one is able to give the right answer. The diseases that arise through the mind are more numerous than the diseases that arise in this body. If you eat too much food, indigestion may come. If you eat too little food, hunger may arise. If you slip and fall, a leg may break. All these belong to the body. But these are not the real diseases. These are of our own making, through our delusions. Many diseases, all of them, come through the mind's brooding. They speak of Heart disease. That too is a disease of the mind. Kidney disease too is of the mind. All the big diseases are diseases of the mind. Brooding, brooding, all the time.
