In plain words

In the end she even took her own life, but she did not fall into that disgrace at all. That is why sacrifice has a great place in them. The Veda too has gone on teaching that very thing. ‘Not by work, not by offspring, not by wealth; by sacrifice some have attained immortality.’ Within that sacrifice, these women are the drops of nectar. Through the influence of the age some may be this way or that, but women are the ones who are a home for sacrifice. According to time and circumstance, and according to the strength of their position, they have had to change to some extent. Because they are not getting the encouragement and enthusiasm they need. If any woman comes forward to take part in some work, many obstacles block her way. Not only in society outside: the obstacles to it begin in the home itself. Then what can those women do? In every home too, we must give women fitting enthusiasm and encouragement and get them to step forward. Not only for homes, not only for society, not only for the country: women can bring about work that is an ideal for the whole world. There may be some in this work who lack a little of the right quality. But we must not take account of all that. Pleasure is an interval between two pains. Within good itself there is some bad; without this bad, good cannot come about. There is an orange. Though there is sweet juice within it, there is a bitter skin over it. Well, we must peel that bitter skin and throw it away. We must drink the sweet juice. On the tree of man, on the tree of life too, there are fruits of this kind, holy fruits called Śānti. If we are to enjoy that Śānti, we must remove the bad that lies over that fruit. We must also take out and throw away the seeds called vices that lie in its middle. Only then can we partake of the sweet juice. That is why in the Veda, ‘Raso vai saḥ’: the hearts of man are hearts filled with rasa. In them, the rasa of sacrifice, the rasa of Satya and the rasa of Dharma are found more in women.
